Honolulu academy of art I had an exhibition and held a workshop at the Honolulu Academy of Arts’ Art Center from 8/6-19. At the opening ceremony, Ukawnshin Kabudan livened things up with performances of traditional Okinawan music and dance The time I shared with the workshop participants was very interesting. The participants asked me insightful questions and expressed their originality through their work. Recently, there’s been talk about a Boston workshop. Now, more than ever, I hope to make that a reality Local news paper article(Hawaii)Exhibition and workshop photo gallery.

It was introduced by a local newspaper.

At the opening reception on the August 6th 2008, greeted with maile lei (a Hawaiian tradition), and gave a speech. (Overwhelmed, I felt like I over-reacted to the situation; and with my limited English, my speech must have sounded strange to those listening)

Made pastes with ingredients from Hawaii and participants of the workshop tried Kataoki. Fielded many questions from workshop participants on the process making Bingata. Realized it was necessary to be able to explain Okinawan tools and materials in English.
