Quite some time has passed since I came back from Hawai‘i, but please take a look at how the exhibitions and workshops went.   Maui, and Kona and Kohala on the Big Island were great locations to hold workshops, and I am very satisfied that I was able to do so.   Including Honolulu, I had the privilege of holding a total of five workshops. All five times, the enrollment exceeded capacity. Norman Kaneshiro of Honolulu, who is also a teacher of classical Ryukyuan music was my translator and provided overall support for me throughout the trip. Thanks to Norman, my three-week stay went smoothly, without incident.   In hopes of further spreading the knowledge of bingata, I would like to visit Maui and Kohala again next year.

In Honolulu, like my previous visit to Hawai‘i, the workshop was held in the annex of the Honolulu Museum of Art.

This exhibition was bountiful with new works. Many people were attracted to these works and the satisfaction brought about by the exhibition made it a first step toward future collaborations. Next year we are planning to have many more exhibitions like this one. I hope to see all of you there.

On Maui, the workshop was held at a temple facing the sea.

In the artsy town of Paia on Maui, I was surprised to find a poster advertising my workshop.

Big Island (Hawai‘i). Mauna Kea summit. 4,205 meters high is too cold for shorts!

Kona (Big Island). The venue in Kona was an intermediate school classroom. The red coffee beans were very plentiful.

The venue we used in Kohala was built 100 years ago. A comforting wind was blowing here, and I really liked the atmosphere.
